ME: Mental & Martial Enrichment is a 90-day martial arts-based program for children with ADD/ADHD. Co-designed by world renowned psychologist, Dr. Dan Short, ME assists with the mental and physical development of children and families struggling with ADD/ADHD. By using the study and practice of martial arts combined with proven therapeutic techniques and methodologies to increase mental function, participants in this program have been proven to improve mental focus, self-control, school performance and build and maintain healthy relationships with peers, family members and others.
Shocking ADD/ADHD statistics:
1. More than 5.4 million children in the United States have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD;
2. More than 2.7 million children in the United States take medication for it;
3. The medication used for treatment is considered a class two narcotic;
4. The annual cost for ADD/ADHD is estimated to be between $36 and $52 billion dollars.
The ME Program develops mental function and brain growth; teaches adaptive strategies that transfer to the outside world: home, school and extracurricular activities; increases self-esteem by teaching children to value their mental and physical capabilities and who they are as a person; teaches children to believe in themselves; teaches the martial arts material needed so that students may test for their first belt and integrate into a regular martial arts program.
The ME Program improves impulse control, judgment, goal setting, gratitude, relationships with others, focus, confidence and accountability.
